Redesigned meeting controls & safer content sharing
Teams is rolling out a redesigned in-meeting experience: frequently used controls like mic, camera, and screen share move to a simplified center-aligned layout, the Leave button is separated, and the sharing panel gains live previews of screens and windows plus an extra confirmation step to prevent accidentally presenting the wrong content. Rollout starts in July and completes by end of August.
Teams Phone Agent answers calls for your department or org
Announced at InfoComm 2026, Teams Phone Agent is a new AI calling experience that answers incoming calls for a department or organisation, understands what each caller needs, and routes or resolves common requests. It joins Copilot Call Delegation as Teams Phone leans further into agentic calling.
Video recap turns recordings into narrated highlight reels
Video recap clips recorded meetings into short, narrated highlights showing key conversations and presented content — a faster, more engaging way to catch up than scrubbing a full recording. Surfaced on the recap page and in Copilot Chat for recorded meetings of 10+ minutes.
Brand impersonation protection for Teams Phone
Teams now detects and warns you in real time when a caller may be posing as a trusted brand — like your IT help desk or bank — with a clear in-call signal so you can decline, leave, or report before engaging. Users can also flag suspicious calls directly from Teams to strengthen fraud protections.
Live-caption profanity filter now off by default
Microsoft is switching the default profanity filter for Teams live captions from On to Off across meetings, calls, events, and Teams Rooms to improve accessibility and align with EU requirements. Only users who never set a preference are affected; anyone who already configured it keeps their choice, and it can be changed anytime in settings.
Dedicated Meeting Recap app arrives in Teams
A standalone Meeting Recap app is rolling out to Teams desktop and web, unifying AI summaries, video highlights, audio recaps, and Copilot-powered search in one place instead of scattered across chats, calendar, and files. It's on by default for eligible tenants, with admins controlling the pace via the new TeamsMeetingRecapPolicy and applying Purview retention. Requires M365 E3/E5 plus Teams Premium or an M365 Copilot licence.
New "Meeting chats" and "Muted chats" sections in the chat list
Teams added two system sections to declutter the chat and channels list: a Muted chats section (on by default) and a Meeting chats section (off by default) that groups meeting-related conversations into their own area you can toggle on or off. Enabled under Settings > Chats and channels; rollout completed across all platforms in late June.
AI meeting recap without saving a recording or transcript
For compliance-sensitive meetings, Copilot can now generate a post-meeting recap using live meeting context without saving a recording or transcript. Organisers with an M365 Copilot (Premium) licence enable or disable "Recap without saving transcript" in meeting options under Copilot & other AI, or toggle it mid-meeting. Rollout across desktop, web, and mobile completed July 1.
Watermark content in Teams meetings now in all government clouds
Meeting organizers can overlay each attendee's email address as a watermark across shared content during a Teams meeting, helping deter screen captures of sensitive material. Rolled out to GA in March, GCC-High in May, and completed the DoD rollout in June — covering every cloud.
Copilot Call Delegation answers Teams Phone calls when you can't
Copilot steps in to answer incoming Teams Phone calls when users can't pick up, capturing context and scheduling follow-ups so important conversations aren't missed. Requires an M365 Copilot licence and rolled out in May.
Customize recap summaries with ready-made or custom templates
Meeting recaps can now be viewed in your preferred format — pick a built-in summary template or create your own to match your workflow (action items, decisions, technical notes, etc.). Requires an M365 Copilot licence.
Live meeting indicators & redesigned org chart in profile cards
Two UX upgrades shipped to Teams: live meeting indicators make it easy to see and jump right into active threaded channel meetings, and the redesigned org chart in profile cards streamlines navigation through reporting relationships and recently viewed profiles.

Email, calendar & the new Outlook for Windows
Voicemail transcription upgrade: better accuracy, 14 new languages
Starting in June, voicemail transcription for Outlook and Teams moves to Azure LLM Speech via the Fast Transcription API — bringing more accurate transcripts, faster processing, automatic language detection, and 14 new languages including Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Korean, Polish, and Thai.
Implicit Grounding in Outlook for Copilot Chat
Users can now add emails and text from email threads directly into their prompt context in M365 Copilot Chat through simple interactions in Outlook — no copy-paste required. Released between May 5–19 and rolling out.
Account selector in Outlook Copilot side pane for multi-tenant users
Users with more than one Copilot-enabled account in Outlook for Windows now get an account dropdown in the Copilot side pane on their Outlook calendar. The selector makes it clear which account Copilot is acting on and removes a common source of cross-tenant confusion.
Copilot Chat in Outlook grounds on the open email automatically
When users without an M365 Copilot licence use Copilot Chat in Outlook alongside an open email, Copilot now grounds the conversation in that email — with the subject line visually shown in the prompt box. Highlighting a portion of the email lets Copilot ground on just that selection.

Agent Mode in Word is now generally available
Agent Mode in Word lets Copilot plan, execute, and refine multi-step document work right inside the app — creating, restructuring, and polishing documents end-to-end while showing what it's doing and why for full transparency and control. Part of Wave 3 of M365 Copilot.
Legal Agent in Word for contract review & redlining
Copilot in Word introduces a Legal Agent designed for contract review, redlining, and negotiation using structured legal workflows. Legal teams get negotiation-ready edits, clear citations, and full control through tracked changes — without leaving Word. Available now in Frontier.
Automatic citations when editing with Copilot
When editing in Word with Copilot, citations are automatically displayed whenever responses incorporate web content or Work IQ sources — helping users verify and track the origins of inserted content, improving transparency and document accuracy.

Skills in Copilot in Excel package repeatable workflows
Teams can now create custom Copilot skills in Excel that save common analysis, modeling, or reporting workflows as reusable instructions — then invoke them by name instead of rewriting the same prompts each time. Standardises how recurring spreadsheet work gets done across a team. Rolled out in June.
Copilot turns text columns into categories and tags
Copilot in Excel will analyze a column of free text and generate related categories or tags — for example surfacing the main themes across open-ended survey responses — so you can structure qualitative data without tagging each row by hand. Expected to begin rolling out in July 2026.
Agent Mode in Excel is now generally available
Agent Mode in Excel can plan, execute, and refine multi-step data work — generating analyses, formulas, charts, and structured workbooks directly inside Excel. Rolled out to web in December, then to Desktop and Mac. Part of Wave 3 of M365 Copilot.
New finance-focused capabilities in Copilot for Excel
Copilot in Excel introduces new finance-focused capabilities that help teams work to their standards, use trusted financial data via federated connectors (LSEG, Moody's, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy), and stay in control of every change.
Excel Agent generates spreadsheets from Copilot Notebooks
Copilot Notebooks can now generate Excel spreadsheets via the Excel agent directly from notebook content. The agent asks clarifying questions to tailor the output, then produces a structured, consistent spreadsheet you can continue refining in Excel.
Copilot now works with locally stored Excel workbooks
Copilot can make multi-step edits to modern Excel workbooks stored locally on devices across Windows and Mac — eliminating the requirement to store files in the cloud and giving users full flexibility around where their files live.

Custom, reusable Copilot skills for presentation tasks
Users can now create and reuse their own Copilot skills for repeatable PowerPoint tasks — saving common instructions as named skills to standardize how decks are built, refined, and formatted without recreating the same prompts each time. Rolled out in June on the web.
Ground new decks in SharePoint libraries & OneDrive folders
When creating a presentation with Copilot in PowerPoint, users can now reference entire SharePoint libraries and OneDrive folders as sources. Copilot draws on that organisational content to build decks that reflect the team's actual material rather than general knowledge. Rolled out in June.
Agent Mode can match an existing deck's theme and styles
When building a presentation with Copilot in PowerPoint's Agent Mode, you can now point it at an existing .pptx so it applies that file's theme and styles to the new deck, keeping branding and formatting consistent. Beginning to roll out mid-June 2026.
"Edit with Copilot" in PowerPoint heads to GCC High — Sept 2026 target
A new Microsoft 365 roadmap entry (ID 566701, added June 29) commits "Edit with Copilot" in PowerPoint to the GCC High government cloud, with GA targeted for September 2026. Premium-licensed government users will be able to summon Copilot from the ribbon to create, refine, and reformat slides via natural language — closing a key gap for defense-adjacent, unclassified work. The entry carries no preview tag and jumps straight to a GA date.
Agent Mode in PowerPoint is now generally available
Agent Mode in PowerPoint can plan, execute, and refine multi-step slide work — creating decks end-to-end with rich structure, formatting, and on-brand visuals while showing its reasoning along the way. Part of Wave 3 of M365 Copilot.
PowerPoint Live: attendees can ask Copilot about slide content
Attendees in PowerPoint Live meetings can now select slide text and ask Copilot to explain it in real time — helping participants get clarity on unfamiliar terms or complex slides without interrupting the presenter. Rolling out in June.
Three new one-click PowerPoint skills: Review, Visualize & Standardize
Copilot in PowerPoint now includes built-in skills that act on a deck in a single click. Review this presentation gives slide-by-slide structure and clarity suggestions, Visualize this slide transforms text-heavy slides into engaging visuals, and Standardize aligns fonts, sizes, and bullets across all slides.
MAI-Image-2.5 model is live in PowerPoint
Microsoft's new MAI-Image-2.5 model — ranked #3 on Arena AI's text-to-image leaderboard and #2 for image-to-image workloads — is now live in PowerPoint for slide visuals. Especially useful for creative workflows taking concepts into polished imagery without leaving the app.

File sync, sharing & agent grounding
SharePoint document library views come to OneDrive
Users can now work with SharePoint document library views directly from OneDrive — switching between existing views plus creating and managing new ones to customize how library content is organized and displayed, all without leaving the OneDrive experience.
New My Sites tab in OneDrive for iOS
The new My Sites tab in the OneDrive iOS app gives you one place to browse every group-connected SharePoint site you own or belong to, jumping straight to each site's default document library — handy when you don't remember a site's name or were just added to one.
Reach your SharePoint document libraries from iPhone and iPad
OneDrive on iOS makes it easier to find and open your SharePoint document libraries: search libraries by name, browse an updated Libraries view with recent and alphabetical sorting, and jump straight to a site's default document library while you're on the go.
Move folders to OneDrive from File Explorer right-click
The OneDrive sync app (v26.045.0308.0003) now lets users right-click any folder in File Explorer to move it directly to OneDrive — making it dramatically easier to back up and sync local folders without manual drag-and-drop.
Improved OneDrive first-run setup experience
The OneDrive sync app's first-run setup has been rebuilt with a modern, streamlined interface for faster and simpler account configuration — reducing friction for IT admins deploying OneDrive and for users setting up new devices.
MAI-Image-2.5 rolling out on OneDrive
Microsoft's new MAI-Image-2.5 model is now rolling out on OneDrive, bringing text-to-image and image-to-image generation directly into file workflows. Combined with Agents in OneDrive (announced earlier this year), this turns OneDrive into a far more capable creative surface.

Custom AI skills reach general availability in SharePoint
Anyone with edit permissions can now teach AI in SharePoint reusable, multi-step skills using natural language — like reviewing compliance documents or offer letters to a standard. Skills are saved as Markdown files in the site's Agent Assets library, governed by existing permissions, and can be invoked by name or auto-selected from a query. GA rollout runs mid-June through early July.
Copilot in SharePoint moves to an opt-out preview
Starting mid-June, Copilot in SharePoint becomes an opt-out preview: for licensed users, Copilot capabilities begin appearing across SharePoint sites, pages, libraries, lists, and chat unless an admin explicitly opts the organisation out. Because it's on by default, review site permissions and sharing before it reaches your tenant — Copilot respects existing permissions, so over-shared or stale content becomes far easier to surface and summarise.
AI in SharePoint — natural-language site & content building
Formerly Knowledge Agent, the rebranded and expanded AI in SharePoint brings agentic site, library, page, and list building directly into SharePoint via plain language. AI also auto-extracts metadata, adapts libraries as content changes, and structures information for Copilot. Rolled out to Public Preview in March and rolling out worldwide.
SPFx 1.23 ships with security fixes & AI tooling investments
SharePoint Framework 1.23 is shipping at the end of March with security fixes for known npm audit vulnerabilities (which do not affect SPFx runtime usage) plus continued investment in AI-powered developer tooling. Adoption is growing as SPFx remains the foundation for building intelligent, business-integrated solutions across M365.
